FACT:  The average CRT Computer Monitor has over 5 pounds of LEAD inside, that’s more LEAD than is commonly found in 3 GALLONS of LEAD-BASED PAINT.

FACT:  Old Computers have 6 suspected cancer causing agents inside them, including LEAD, CADMIUM, PCB’s and MERCURY, all of which are extremely toxic when disposed of improperly in a landfill.

FACT:  Over 96 percent of the average computer can be fully recycled and reused to produce items ranging from PARK BENCHES in our National Parks to new CRT Computer Monitors and Televisions.

FACT:  In North America alone, we are disposing of 680 MILLION TONS of electronics into local landfills.  And sadly only 3 – 5 percent of this amount is being recycled through properly regulated recycling centers and facilities.

FACT:  The United States Environmental Protection Agency has mandated that all federal agencies must seek out compliant electronics recycling facilities, also known as E-Waste Disposal facilities, as opposed to disposal through landfills.  The EPA is fully aware of the need for proper disposal of hazardous materials found in Computers and CRT (Glass) Monitors.

FACT:  As of April 2005, 17 states including Nebraska and Iowa have laws that prohibit the disposal of computers and monitors in landfills for these very reasons.  They are treated as toxic waste and are to be disposed of in an EPA compliant facility.  Kansas will soon follow this trend.
